Julie Barnofski was born and raised in Southington, Connecticut, USA.  Her interest in art started in her first few years of life through drawing.  By the age of 12, her father gave her a Canon TX that he had used to photograph weddings in the 1970s.  She pursued two years of photographic courses in high school which led to artistic endeavors in college. 


For her undergraduate work, she attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY where received her B.A. in Studio Art (with a concentration in photography) and English Literature in 2005. In 2009 she graduated with her M.F.A. in photography and M.A. in art history from the University of North Texas where she also taught several undergraduate art and art history courses including Black and White Photography, Photography I, Drawing I, Drawing II, Art History Survey I, Art History Survey II, History of Photography, and Art Appreciation.   


She currently lives in Houston, TX with her boyfriend, 2 dogs, and 1 cat where she teaches a variety of digital photography courses at the Art Institute of Houston-North.
