Julie Barnofski was born and raised in Connecticut, USA. Her first cameras was given to her at the age of 12 by her father who had used them in the 1970s when he used to photograph weddings. After taking two years of photography courses in high school, she decided to pursue creative endeavors in college. She attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY and received a B.A. in photography and literature. She is currently attending the University of North Texas where she is working on her M.F.A. in photography as well as a M.A. in art history. She plans to graduate with both graduate degrees in 2009 and is a teaching assistant for introductory drawing and photography classes.
